The Kyrgyz government has adopted a decree to help moving ethnic Kyrgyz to their historic land. The main purpose is to protect rights and legal interests of the ethnic Kyrgyz. In addition it envisages eased naturalization and the creation of legal and sub-legal base. Every year the republic announces quota to accept ethnic Kyrgyz; the repatriated ethnic Kyrgyz settle throughout the country. According to official data, over 9,000 refugees have been registered in Kyrgyzstan, where 80% of them are ethnic Kyrgyz from Tajikistan. Many of them want to stay in Kyrgyzstan and nationalize. This governmental decree is the pursuance of the Presidential Decree on 'Measures to Assist the Ethnic Kyrgyz in their repatriation'. The Law on refugees was adopted in Kyrgyzstan in 2002; it is already in effect. International migration organizations and UNHCR Office will help Kyrgyz government in regulating issues related to refugees and migrants.
