Three crucial agreements were signed between Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan on May 6.
The meeting was held in Tashkent. The Kyrgyz delegation included transport ministry workers, financiers, energy ministry workers and natural gas distributors. Vice Premier Tanaev headed the delegation. According to him, the talks were extremely difficult; every item in mutual concessions was being bargained. As a result the parties nevertheless have found opportunities for cooperation.
A difficult issue concerning Bishkek-Tashkent rail route has at last been settled. The direct communication between the two capitals was ruptured some time ago due to a range of contradictions and economic issues. The route will begin operating.
On natural gas supplies to Kyrgyzstan. solutions concerning this issue were spontaneous and unpredictable during the recent years. This time the natural gas supply treaty was formalized clear-cut. Uzbekistan has committed itself to guarantee the delivery of over one billion cubic meters of gas including some 525 million cubic meters to people and 540 million cubic meters to Bishkek Heat and Power Station. Barter is an indispensable condition. 50% of natural gas will be paid through water resources of our republic. The other half will be covered in money at he last year price. 0.0334 cents per cubic meter.
The third agreement signed was that On Rational Use of Water Resources including those of Kyrgyzstans largest Toktogul reservoir
