[07.04.23] Less Than 1% of Information in the Kyrgyz Mass Media Has to Do With Health Issues

These are the figures reported by O.Moldokulov, regional coordinator of World Health Organization (WHO) in Kyrgyzstan at the press conference on April 7.
According to O.Moldokulov, malaria is one of the serious problems faced by the country. On April 17 WHO will open a field office in Osh to fight the disease.
Drinking water is an issue for the Republic as well.
O. Moldokulov reported some other statistic data: 20-25% of school children in the country are regular smokers. He expressed a hope that Kyrgyzstan will in the near future prohibit advertisement of tobacco in Mass Media.
Overall, O.Moldokulov appealed to the Kyrgyz MM for better coverage of health-related issues and promotion of a healthy way of life.
