[29.04.2OO3] Kyrgyz Industrial Production Up 7.5%

Industrial production in Kyrgyzstan in the first quarter increased 7.5% in monetary terms year-on-year to amount to 13.2 billion som, a source in the National Statistics Committee told Interfax.
 
According to the statistics, not including production at the Kumtor gold field, industrial production increased 14.9%.
 
Sub-surface production increased 3%, with coal and lignite production up 13.5%, oil - 6.4% and natural gas - 30.3%.
 
Production in the manufacturing industry increased 6.2%, including a 10.7% increase in food production, while production of textiles and sewn goods fell 26.5% and leather and leader good production was down 6.8%. Production of oil products fell 0.3%.
 
Production of metal and metal goods increased 4.4%, engineering production was up 4%, and production of electrical and electronic equipment was up 13.3%.
 
Production and distribution of electricity, gas and water in the first quarter increased 13.3% year-on-year to amount to 3.78 billion soms.
 
The official exchange rate on April 28 was 44.2564 som to the dollar.
