[21.05.23] Pakistan to Sign Trade Pacts with Kyrgyzstan

Pakistan and Kyrgyzstan are likely to negotiate a host of agreements in various fields for enhancing volume of bilateral trade between the two countries.
Well-placed sources told Dawn on Wednesday the agreements would be discussed during the forthcoming two-day visit of the Kyrgyz president to Pakistan.The Kyrgyz president would meet his Pakistani counterpart and the prime minister for conclusion of agreements on cooperation in the field of education, culture, science and technology.
The sources said it was also expected that the leaders of the two countries would sign an agreement on twinning cities of Bishkek with Quetta.During the visit, the delay in implementation of the quadrilateral agreement on traffic in transit signed in 1995 will also come under discussion. The accord was signed among Pakistan, Kyrgyzstan, China and Kazakhstan.
According to the sources, an agreement on transfer of electric power from Kyrgyzstan to the Northern Areas via China was signed in 1995. However, it has not been implemented so far. It is expected that the issue would be finalized, said the sources.
