A Governmental commission is now questioning expediency of Free Economic Areas "Naryn", "Karakol" and "Maimak". By June 01 the commission is to present its resolution to the Cabinet. The Government of the KR believes that Free Economic Areas in Kyrgyzstan (except Bishkek) didn't fulfil the objectives, outlined by the Law "On FEA" and the governmental resolution "On the state concept of developing FEA in Kyrgyzstan". FEA "Karakol", "Naryn" and "Maimak" failed to attract investment, develop new technologies and build up export potential. When preparing a new edition of the Tax Code the Ministry of Finance is commissioned to include the norms for taxation of goods produced in FEA.
The current commission will provide a comprehensive economic analysis and justification for liquidation of these FEA.
