GEF plans to allocate 700 million US dollars to land resources management in Central Asia

The Global Environment Fund (GEF) plans to allocate 700 million US dollars to participants of a project on land resources management in Central Asia. Donors, particularly, representatives of the Global Environment Fund, ADB, GTZ, UNDP announced it in the Hyatt Hotel during a presentation of program of multilateral frame partnership Initiative of states of Central Asia on land resources management. The national workshop is attended by representatives of the UN Convention on fighting with desertification, ministry of agriculture, water resources an processing industry of Kyrgyzstan, non-governmental, public and international organizations. The workshop has determined that Kyrgyzstan from the moment of joining the UN Convention in 1997 apply active efforts for sustainable management of land and water resources and fighting with poverty. Participants of the workshop have agreed concerning actuality of the program and consider that the national frame program forms strict basis for implementing practical actions on sustainable management of land and water resources of the Kyrgyz Republic and development of agrarian sector, approved planned priorities. /Kabar/
