Tabyldy Abiev of Kara-Kulja district administration in the southern Osh Province told RFE/RL correspondent on 15 July that eight residents of the Jetim-Dobe village were hospitalized on 7 July with suspicion of infected by anthrax. Results of the medical test are not yet ready. The village with about 200 residents is put in quarantine.
Authorities of the Osh Province say 47 people were registered with malaria in the province. Experts of the neighboring Batken Province 140 people with malaria were registered in the province in the last five months.
