[03.12.2OO2] Bishkek City Council For Moratorium on Unsanctioned Meetings and Rallies

Deputies of Bishkek City Council proposed the city administration to declare moratorium on unsanctioned meetings and rallies in the capital. The administrations' press service official Daniyar Shabdanov confirmed the decision of the deputies adopted on Nov. 30 session. According to Shabdanov, the decision was taken in response to "multiple protest appeals" from Bishkek inhabitants.
Ombudsman of Kyrgyzstan Tursunbay Bakir uulu said such a proposal contradicts the law on demonstrations and rallies, and the Constitution.
