[03.07.2OO2] Armenia enjoys largest industrial growth among CIS states

Moscow, Russia, Jul 03, 2002 (RosBusinessConsulting via COMTEX) -- The most significant rise in industrial production in the CIS countries in the first five months of 2002 was registered in Armenia. This data does not cover Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan, which provided no corresponding information. The CIS Statistics Committee reported that Armenia's industrial growth was 11.2 percent versus the corresponding period in 2001. A fall in the volume of industrial production was registered in Kyrgyzstan - 10.7 percent. Other CIS countries enjoyed a rise in industrial production from January to May 2002.
In particular, this rise reached 10 percent in Kazakhstan, 8.6 percent in Moldavia, 8.3 percent in Tajikistan, 3.1 percent in Ukraine, 3.1 percent in Belarus and 3 percent in Russia. The industrial production growth was 3 percent in the CIS on average in the first five months of this year. The GDP growth reached 9.2 percent in Armenia in this period.
