[07.02.23] 2002 Resume of Economic Development for the CIS Countries

2002 marked a 10,6% GDP growth for Azerbaijan, 12,9% - for Armenia, 4,7%- for Belarus, 5,4% for Georgia, 9,5% for Kazakhstan, 9,1% for Tajikistan, 7,8% for Moldavia, 4,3% - Russia, 4,1% - the Ukraine. 2002 GDP fell by 0,5 % compared to 2001 in Kyrgyzstan.
 
Investment rate into fixed capital went up by 82% in Azerbaijan, 43% in Armenia, 19% in Kazakhstan, 4% in Moldavia, 3% in Russia and Belarus, 0,3% in Georgia. Investment rate has gone down by 12 % in Kyrgyzstan.
 
Armenia experienced the highest industrial growth rate among CIS countries in 2002 - 14,2%, followed by Moldavia - 10,6%, Kazakhstan - 9,8%, Tajikistan - 8,2%, the Ukraine - 7,0%, Georgia - 4,9%, Belarus - 4,3%, Russia- 3,7%, Azerbaijan- 3,6%. Industrial growth rate went down by 13,1% in Kyrgyzstan.
