Deputy of Parliament Ismail Isakov told RFE/RL correspondent in Bishkek on 1 May that the landslides have destroyed 174 houses total in the Alai district of the southern Osh Province. All the dwellers had been moved to other houses, mostly to their relatives, however, they have not yet received tents from the Ministry of Emergencies, as was promised before.
A large, slow-moving landslide covered the Jangy-Savai village on 27 and 28 April, destroying about 160 houses. Local authorities had a time to dismantle about 140 houses before the landslide covered them.
On the preliminary estimates, damage is about 70 million soms (about $1.5 million).
