Following attacks on police stations in Kyrgyzstan's Dzhalal-Abad Region, Uzbekistan has stepped up security measures along its borders with that country, Uzbek TV reported on 21 May.
The report said that regular trips across the border never stopped, and that the situation in bordering areas remained calm.
"Thanks to timely instructions issued by the president, the borders have been reinforced and remain calm. Nevertheless, trips across the border between Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan never stop. The only thing is that security measures have been stepped up in the interests of our state," it added.
