[11.06.2OO2] President Akayev receives secretary of the Russian Security Council

President Askar Akayev received in Bishkek on 11 June Secretary of the Russian Security Council Vladimir Rushailo. Rushailo told journalists after the meeting that they discussed the regional security issues and possibilities of forming a special security body in frame of the Shanghai Security Organization. Akayev suggested forming a special working group for it. Secretary of the Kyrgyz Security Council Misir Ashyrkulov told journalists that there is still danger of incursion of the rebels of Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan (IMU) to Kyrgyzstan and this issue also was discussed at the meeting. Rushailo, who arrived in Bishkek on 10 June, met also with Prime Minister Nikolai Tanaev.
IMU rebels invaded Kyrgyzstan in 1999 and 2000 in the summer months and about 60 Kyrgyz citizens were killed in clashes with them.
