[20.06.2OO2] President Akayev receives Pascoe of US State Department

According to the presidential press service, President Askar Akayev received in Bishkek on 20 June Deputy Assistant to the US Secretary of State Lynn Pascoe.
They discussed aspects of cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and the US in fighting against international terrorism as well as security matters of the Central Asian region and reconstruction of Afghanistan. Pascoe said the US plans increasing economical help to Kyrgyzstan.
Pascoe arrived in Bishkek on 19 June and plans also meeting Prime Minister Nikolai Tanaev, Secretary of the Security Council Misir Ashyrkulov, Foreign Minister Askar Aitmatov. According to the US embassy in Bishkek level of US help to Kyrgyzstan would reach $49.9 million in 2002. Since 1992, the US has given Kyrgyzstan $590,7 million.
