[25.06.2OO2] Is a third war in Batken possible?

After opening of high mountainous pass on the Kyrgyz-Tajik border rumors about possible invasion of international terrorists gangs appeared. One of the central Russian newspapers has frightened the inhabitants by detachments of many thousands that ready for a throw According to unchecked information separate small groups of terrorists of the Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan pass through border at the territory
of Tajikistan

Under the initiative of Security Council, both Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan Ministries of Defense scheduled reconnaissance of districts in northern areas, central parts and Pamir part of Tajikistan by group of Kyrgyz and Tajik officers was carried out in the beginning of June. The purpose is detection and specifications of presence of gangs in those regions. The results of reconnaissance were encouraging and surpassed all expectations. Neither in places of a possible location of gangs nor on routes of possible movement IMU terrorists were not detected. There were no doubts in reliability of information and sincerity and goodwill of our friends - officers of armed forces of Tajikistan. Kyrgyz officers visited a number of settlements in Jergetal, Rasht, Tajikobad, Tavildarya Rayons of Tajikistan where they have frankly talk with representatives of local authorities (hukumats), law-enforcement agencies, frontier guards, militaries from blockhouses and divisions of the Ministries of Defense and Emergency, Civil defense, and ordinary people.

All interlocutors told about those disasters, losses and deprivations that they felt personally during the civil war in Tajikistan. Therefore they responded extremely negative and unfriendly about those people who wanted new war and directly declared that civil war had rallied of Tajiks. The nation wishes no war any more, and wants only peaceful life.

All interlocutors, especially employees of power structures of Tajikistan, assured Kyrgyz officers that they would not allow penetration on the territory of the country and through the Kyrgyz-Tajik border any illegal armed gangs.

They will be carry out further vigilant policy on the borders of the country and operative - search actions within all territory with the purpose of revealing and liquidation of the armed gangs which threaten to stability, the civil people and the national consent in Tajikistan.
