[11.12.2OO2] Meeting of Security Secretaries Ends

The two day meeting of the secretaries of security councils of CIS Collective Security Treaty (CST) countries ended today in the Kyrgyz capital. A protocol on cooperation in fighting terrorism, extremism and illegal drug trafficking was signed. Also a decision was taken recommending that interior ministers work out new forms of cooperation as a possibility of pursuing suspected terrorists into the territories of other CST countries.
 
At a press conference in Bishkek Russian Security Council Secretary Vladimir Rushailo said CST countries have a common stance on Iraq. He also added any action against Iraq should be based on international agreements, and decisions should be made by the UN Security Council.
 
The next meeting of the heads of Security Councils of CST members Russia, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Tajikstan, Armenia and Belarus will be held in Moscow next year. The monitors from Azerbaijan, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine were present at the Bishkek meeting.
