[11.12.2OO2] Gender inequality highlighted at seminar

Presidential National Council on Women, Family and Gender Development is holding a seminar in the southern Jalal-Abad regional center. A four-year national plan to reach gender equality was presented.
Women constitute only 7% in parliament, none of them were appointed to regional governorships; only 21 women are among the 455 heads of village administrations. As it was noted at the seminar, each year around 4,000 females fall victim to women trafficking, also the number of crimes committed by women is on the rise.
