[25.12.22] Supporters Of Usen Sydykov Gather In Kara-Kulja

Supporters of the former deputy prime minister, Usen Sydykov, barred from the run-off in the No 33 Kara-Kulja constituency, gathered today in the center of the Kara-Kulja district of Osh region. According to the organizers of the protest action, there were about 400 supporters of Sydykov. They met with the head of the district administration, Rashid Tajibaev. The meeting adopted a decision with 5 clauses. Sydykov's supporters appealed to the Constitutional court to protect the rights of the 18,000 voters, who backed Usen Sydykov. Otherwise the people will boycott the run-off, says the appeal. The district administration confirmed the information on the gathering saying that there were about 250 people.
The Osh City court ruled on October 27, 2002, to bar Sydykov from the run-off election to parliament, saying there were mistakes in his election documents.
Sydykov, former deputy prime minister and chairman of the Agrarian-Labor Party, took 46 percent of votes in the Kara-Kulja constituency in the first round.
The High Court upheld the decision of the Osh City Court on November 1.
