[13.02.23] The World Bank Will Allocate a $50-mln Grant to Kyrgyzstan

World Bank Board of Directors will meet in May to consider the strategy of assistance to Kyrgyzstan, James Lovlis, a new WB representative in Kyrgyzstan reported. The strategy will supposedly be implemented between June 2002 and June 2006. It stipulates that the Republic will receive 120 mln-dollar credit within four years. The other 50 mln will be provided in grants.
According to James Lovlis, these funds will be intended to improve the system of state administration, social sector and promote sustained economic growth through development of private sector. The strategy will be coordinated with UNDP and other donors and will be implemented within the framework of the National Strategy for Poverty Reduction.
