The President of the Jeddah-based Islamic Development Bank (IDB), Dr Ahmed Muhammad Ali, has met here with a high-level delegation from Kyrgyzstan, among them Deputy Prime Minister, K. Jamalev.
They discussed matters of mutual interest, and the visiting delegation said they were impressed with the existing cooperation between the IDB and their country.
They outlined their government's plans for improving the Tazara-Talas-Susamir road in their country, and expressed the hope that the IDB would contribute to the project.
At the conclusion of the meeting, an agreement was signed between the two parties, under which the IDB would provide a US$9 million loan for the road project. The repayment period for the loan would be 25 years, with a grace period of seven years.
So far, the IDB has provided Kyrgyzstan with financing to the tune of US$54 million to pay for 13 development projects in the health, industrial, energy and road sectors.
