[16.09.23] Putin Instructs Defense Ministry to Sign Airbase Agreement With Kyrgyzstan

Russian President Vladimir Putin has approved the government's proposal on concluding an agreement with Kyrgyzstan on the status of a Russian airbase in that country and the conditions of its functioning.
Putin's ordinance, the text of which was posted on the Kremlin web-site on Tuesday, instructs the Russian Defense Ministry to sign the agreement on behalf of the Russian Federation.
The president authorized the Defense Ministry, if need be, to make amendments to the agreement adopted by the Russian government as long as they do not radically change its essence.
The presidential ordinance of September 13 has come into force since the day of its signing.
The Russian airbase is to be set up at the Kant airfield in Kyrgyzstan.
