A delegation of Kyrgyz officials headed by deputy head of the president's office Temirbek Akmataliev visited China on 22-29 November to promote closer ties between the two countries, particularly in the economic sphere. The delegation met with Chinese Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing and other government officials responsible for agriculture and commerce. Two hundred private Chinese firms are already functioning in Kyrgyzstan; the Kyrgyz side would like to attract further Chinese investment, particularly in tourism and the agricultural sector. The Chinese interlocutors expressed interest in processing of agricultural products, fisheries and fowl raising, improvement of seeds, and fertilizer production.
