Kyrgyzstan boosted gold production 24% year-on-year from 6.2635 tons to 7.768 tons in January-April as operations at the big Kumtor mine gathered pace, Asek Balabekov, aide to the head of the state-owned mining concern Kyrgyzaltyn, told Interfax.
Kyrgyzaltyn itself produced 460.2 kg and the Canadian -Kyrgyz Kumtor Gold Company 7.308 tons of gold.
Balakbekov said Kyrgyzstan would produce 20,438 tons of gold in 2004 as a whole.
