WHO and donor organizations invested 2 mln dollars into the Kyrgyz health reform. According to the press service of the Kyrgyz Ministry for Health, WHO is sponsoring specialist training, introduction of new DOTS strategy on diagnostics and treatment of tuberculosis. WHO particularly intends to support Kyrgyzstan in terms of maternity and childbirth issues. All of these programs are conducted in the framework of Kyrgyz health reforms.
Improving efficiency and quality of medical services is one of the main objectives of health reforms in the country. Restructuring medical institutions of the country, reinvesting accumulated financial resources is the preliminary stage for introduction of new healthcare financing techniques in the system.
At the present time there are 83 Centers of Family Medicine. 630 groups of family doctors, 214 medical institutions with 27447 beds are operating within the system. Rural hospitals are now structural units of regional ones.
