Ularbek Mateev, the newly elected head of Kyrgyzaltyn, outlined his plans for the state gold mining company on 22 July, Kabar news agency reported. He said that he intends to reduce production costs and minimize negative effects on the environment. Mateev also stated that the mining industry requires new methods of encouraging growth in the industry in order to increase tax revenues and benefit the people.
Mateev went on to note that he is not a newcomer to the industry, having headed the government directorate that supervised mining at the time when Kyrgyzaltyn was created.
